Duties and Responsibilities:

Welding Trainees perform a variety of welding and production duties while adhering to Caterpillar’s core values of integrity, excellence, teamwork, commitment, and sustainability. Welding Trainees work within and across zones on the production floor in the areas of assembly, fabrication, paint or other production areas, ensuring safety, quality and standard work protocol are followed. Welding Trainees use welding equipment to perform basic tack and straight line after completing welding training.

All employees will be required to:

  • Perform all work in a manner that meets quality standards and safe job procedures
  • Perform all work in accordance with standard operating procedures and follows standard work to accomplish tasks
  • Perform tasks wearing required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) such as: bump cap, hearing protection, safety glasses and safety shoes
  • Perform regular checks to ensure product meets quality standards
  • Engage supervisor to resolve problems and issues as they occur
  • Meet daily production level goals
  • Perform all necessary documentation in a timely manner
  • Maintain a clean and safe work area
  • Adhere to our core values of integrity, excellence, teamwork, commitment and sustainability
  • Work a regular schedule where daily attendance and punctuality are required
  • Safely perform work accurately and thoroughly
  • Must stand for prolonged periods, performing repetitive work
  • Produce quality work at a sustained pace

  • Demonstrate ability to follow directions and standard work
  • Welding Trainees are trained to operate fabrication machinery under close supervision to produce quality metal fabricated parts at the appropriate time in the right quantities in a high performance team environment using welding equipment to perform basic tack and straight line welds.

Qualifications

Physical Requirements: Must be able to meet the physical requirements including, but not limited to: Lifting up to 35 lbs; standing and walking constantly; and frequently kneeling, climbing, and reaching with or without reasonable accommodations Minimal Requirement: Must be able to work overtime and work a flexible schedule. Basic Qualifications:

  • Prior employment and/or volunteer experience
  • Top candidates will also have:
  • Previous manufacturing/distribution experience
  • Ability to work in a team environment
  • Experience working with Standard Operating Procedures or Standard Work

Additional Information:

  • Caterpillar requires all candidates to be 18 years of age or older due to safety regulations
  • Full time, support positions are eligible for selected benefits (health insurance, paid vacations)
  • Position is located in Victoria, Texas. No relocation is offered
